About Housing Benefits 101

Housing Benefits 101 (HB101) helps people who need affordable housing, and supports to maintain that housing, understand the range of housing options and support services available. HB101 can help you make choices about where you want to live. It can also help you figure out a long-term housing plan that works for you, and the steps to move toward your housing goals.

HB101 features:

  • Information: Content covers a wide range of topics, including information on specific types of housing, services, and life situations like yours. You can learn about your housing options, how to pay for housing, and how to get the services you need, wherever you live.
  • Tools: Tools to help you plan and organize are coming soon!
  • Experts: The Get Help Now feature connects you to experts who can answer your questions and help you plan next steps. These experts come from the Disability Linkage Line, Senior Linkage Line, Veteran’s Linkage Line, and United Way 211. The MnHelp.info search function is also used throughout HB101 to help you find specific resources in your own community.
  • Opportunities for Input: We want to hear from you! Use the feedback form at the top of each page Feedback icon to tell us about your experience using HB101.

To better meet the needs of Minnesotans who need affordable housing and support services, the Minnesota Department of Human Services contracted with the World Institute on Disability to update, redesign, and expand the DHS Housing Resource Toolbox by creating Housing Benefits 101.
